Studio Bakker Amsterdam

      Spaces and Panes

      Interior design / Private residence
      2008

Starting with the concrete shell of this 112sqm apartment, Studio Bakker created an open plan living and working space with a U-shaped floor plan facing the 60sqm outdoor terrace with spectacular views on the river IJ and the industrial port of Amsterdam.

The design is like a continuous line, balancing horizontals and verticals, with sliding doors, frames and a maze of vistas connecting the various spaces with each other and the greater outdoors. The center axis hosts the technical facilities and operates as an entry with access to all the home’s different functions.
